In today's class we watched part of The Vagina Monologues. This particular skit was on menstration and how a woman feels about getting her period. This also reminded me of my grandma (yes I do really miss her) and the time that I was carrying a tampon around her house. I didn't think it was anything but my grandma quickly said, "you better hide that Sam". Which got me thinking; who am I hiding my tampon from? My grandma? My grandpa? There family right I shouldn't have to shove my tampon under my shirt so that no one can see it.
After today's class I realized that maybe my grandma has different views this subject. She feels as though it is a topic is something to be kept secretive and this is what The Vagina Monologues is totally opposite of my grandma The Vagina Monologues views menstration as a normal thing that should be talked about openly. I also feel like having your period is not something that need to be kept a secret; though I am not going to run around telling people but I'm not going to keep it a big secret either.
